The staff here are so kind and friendly. . im a foreigner and was staying in one of the downtown hotels in Lincoln..the hotel gym didn't have that many weights so i decided to google for a real gym around the downtown area..glad i found ymca.. between if you aren't a member it's only $6 dollars for a day pass....just show your hotel room key.
Ed at the front desk (salt&pepper) is AWESOME!! I'm new to the area and he made me feel very welcome and answered all my questions. He was a huge help! Glad I chose the Y
This is a good gym with excellent machinery and weights selection. The pool is good with some classes and almost always set up for some lap swimming. The Downtown Y gets pretty busy before and after work and the classes and cardio machines can get filled up pretty quick. The Y does have a unique relaxing steamroom. As of 1/29/12 the Y is having towel trouble apparently and limits to one per person and that can be a pain. Also the only cleaning of the machines and weights seems to be done by the customer. There are signs everywhere asking you to clean the machines after use which I can understand but it would be nice if a monthly deep clean was given to the gym. It seems the only time it is really clean is after a remodel.
