Brooklyn Boulders Chicago

Went here for a VIBEUP event. Hadn't done any sort of rock climbing in awhile, so it was fun to try it again here. Had a good upper-body workout trying to figure out how to scale the wall. What annoyed me is not BB's fault. Vibeup charged ~$45 for an event here that combined yoga, rock climbing and healthy food. It was an additional $5 for shoes and an additional $5 to have someone belay while you climbed. Anyways, for a better price, I'd check it out again. My arms were burning the next day in a great way.
I met some friendly, skilled climbers here, but it really seems like amateur hour when it comes to the staff. Some employees were polite, none were helpful. They're the only gym I've found in the city that has 55 fters (which I love to climb), but you pay a lot for the privilege - it's the most expensive place I've climbed at in Chicago so far. They need to replace their t-nuts or generally do a better job ensuring their holds are firmly attached - there are always so many spinners at this gym. The routes are all overrated, you’ll need to climb two levels above what you normally do for any kind of challenge (that goes for top, lead, and boulder).
Absolutely loved my experience here! Staff was friendly, especially David who went out of his way to make things happen for me even though I was beyond late to my appointment.
I've gone here twice. One on a hard hat tour, which fascinated me because they showed us how they were building their rock climbing walls. It's inside an old church so it actually catches you off guard how they're renovating this space. They recently finished their walls so you can now go try rock climbing. They have done several yoga events here as well. I've done one of their yoga events -- totally fun!!! I love the instructors here, they keep you busy there. Give it a go!!
