My husband and I stay in Whistler Village for the bike park every summer. I regularly practice Vinyasa yoga and so I signed up for two classes last week. I have to say I was very impressed with Hilary, but not Lauren. Hilary provided a much better flow, whereas Lauren's (I felt) was more aligned with Hatha. Hilary also seemed more in-tune with what she saw going on with each individual and provided individual support when needed. She also provided a better Savasana. She came around and placed eye pillows in everyone's hands to hold them open, which I found to be an impressive and helpful/relaxing touch. I also like it when the instructor does the poses with the class, which Lauren did not do. Beyond the two instructors, this place provides everything including mats, blocks, blankets, bolsters, eye pillows, water & tea. I didn't see towels so if you need a towel (for sweat, or I use one to prevent my hands from slipping in positions such as Down Dog), bring your own. OH! I found this place kind of hard to find. It is on the second floor. So in the village if you know where the Starbucks below Earl's Restaurant is, take the stairs to the right, stay right, and walk into the doors just around the corner on the right. Take the elevator or stairs up to the second floor and the yoga studio is the first door on the right.
This place is amazing! I have practiced yoga at many different locations across Canada and the Yogacara Studios in Whistler is the best I've come across. I've had the pleasure of attending Restorative and Vinyasa flow with Emily as my instructor. She is very attentive to her students, assisting throughout the class helping you achieve your best results and perfect your personal practice. I will be here often.
